When we looked out the window this morning to get a view of the beautiful Reschenpass valley in South Tyrol, Italy and saw a fresh dusting of snow in the mountains, we suddenly couldn’t remember what event we were working on- Suzuki Nine Knights MTB or Suzuki Nine Knights Ski and Snowboard?

Once the weather cleared, the sun came out, and the wind mellowed slightly by early afternoon, we were quickly reminded of the insanity that was about to go down in the MTB world this week. The athletes that had already begun to trickle in last night came in full force on course this afternoon, ready to ride.

Led by the British duo Sam Reynolds and Sam Pilgrim, the riders began working the flow trail, as the wind was still too strong for the other features. All shared their awe of the size of the features and the infinite possibilities the course has to offer.

What began as mellow sessions on the trail quickly picked up in pace with back-to-back trains, some including up to 5 athletes. Seeing how comfortable the riders were on-course in such a short period of time, we’re bound to see some crazy action go down as early as tomorrow morning. Let the craziness begin!
